Birmingham Citadel 1 (Simon Black); Desi 2 1
Citadel gained there first points of the season with a much improved performance from the previous week. It took Citadel a while to get going in the match though and Desi 2 squandered a few chances early on. However gradually Citadel started to control the half and began to create chances of their own. Ramoth was put through on goal twice in the space of a couple of minutes. The first time it looked as if he was clipped from behind and could only manage a tame shot. The second time however he attempted a half volley from just outside the box, when he really should have taken his time and scored. Ramoth also had a goal disallowed for offside however when he ran on to a through ball, rounded the keeper and slotted it in. Unfortunately the linesman decided Ramoth had gone to early. A goal did come though, when a slick passing move ended up with Richard Black in space out wide. He crossed the ball hard and low, the keeper spilled it and Si knocked in the loose ball. Citadel carried on controlling the half and went in at half time deservedly in the lead. HT 1-0
Unfortunately Citadel didn't begin the second half well. They began a sloppily as they did first half and were punished almost immediately. After some confusion at the back, a Desi 2 striker managed to pick up a loose ball in the box. He was however going wide of goal, and an unnecessary challenge from Richard Black and Stuart Stanley combined to bring the player down for a penalty. The penalty was however missed when it was struck against the post and bounced back out wide in the box. Desi 2 reacted quickest though and got the rebound. It was in fact an attempted cross, but it looped over Stuart's head and into the net. Citadel did pick up their game though and again started to waste chances. Simon was through one on one, but tried to cut back inside when he should have shot and was tackled. Marc Richardson had to ball at his feet 6 yards out but could only scuff it straight at the keeper. And Ian Law wasted the best chance when he was out through after a delightful one touch passing move between Dave Maybury, Marc and Ian. However Ian blasted his chance wide. Desi 2 also created other chances, the best of which was yet another attempted cross which this time lobbed Stu in goal but came back off the post. All in all though it was a game which Citadel really should have won. FT 1-1
