Crusaders 8 ; Birmingham Citadel 1 (S Black)
Citadels first game of the season was definately one to forget. In fact it was so bad I've decided not to write much about it. The whole performance was shambolic apart from a few performances that deserve mentioning. Firstly credit has to be given to Crusaders who fully deserved their win. As for Citadel there were only really two people who can say they performed to anywhere near their full capabilities. Ramoth Gudza and Simon Black worked tirelessly up front with hardly any reward. Although Citadel played badly we still created chances in the second half with both Ian Law and Richard Black wasting very good chances. Ian almost redeemed himself when he brought the ball down on his chest 30 yards out, turned and rattled the bar with a half volley that the keeper could only stand and admire. The one goal came when Simon was played through and lobbed the keeper from an awkwardly bouncing ball. All in all though it was an appaulling performance which will hopefully be used by the players as a wake up call.
